The Pipevine Swallowtail (Battus philenor) is found in North and Central America. They are black with iridescent blue hind wings. They are found in many different habitats but most commonly in forests. The caterpillars feed on birthworts making them poisonous both as larvae and adults. The adults feed, safe from predators, on the nectar of a wide variety of flowers.
