This is a living room in one of the cave homes of Matmata in
Tunisia. The homes are built by digging down to form a large
courtyard and then excavating into the walls to form caves. It's
good protection from the cold nights, hot days and the often
strong desert winds. The rooms are painted with lime wash to
capture as much bright desert light from the courtyard as
