A traditionally framed oak 13th century perrier at the Tower of London

This is a perrier, not the bottled water but rather a 13th century oak siege machine at the Tower of London, England. The replica was built by Rick Lewis a traditional oak carpenter with the help of Dave 'bodger' Hodgson a mediaeval armourer. The machine was built using illustrations in manuscripts from the 12th to 14th centuries using the same oak construction techniques with hand hewn timbers.

This is Rick's collection of hewing axes. Together they built two perriers (hand operated rock throwers) and one springald (a torsion powered bolt shooter). You can watch the perrier and springald in action in the video right.
