This tiny outdoor classroom is
one of a pair built for a school in Norwich, England. It was
built by
Jay
Hadley and his seven year old son who takes us on an
enthusiastic tour of the house in the video right. The house
is built using timbers and roundwood from five different
trees, the leaves of which are shown below.

The main frame of the house is cedar felled on the
school grounds. The door and door frame are made from oak, the
windows are elm, the living roof timbers are ash and finally the
cladding is made using the very fragrant larch. The door and windows where created in Jay's
workshop and the rest of the house was built on site. It took jay
two very long fourteen hour but rewarding days to put the house
together. You can see another of Jay's tiny dens
here. |
